I meant to do a review of this new CD a few days ago, but have been toying with HOW.  How does one do a credible review of a CD in which one is actually ON??!!  Rick Springfield was GENIUS in actually allowing his fans be ON this new CD!

People who know me, know full well that I have always been a Rick Springfield fan.  This may or may not change how you see my review.  HOWEVER!  I encourage you to get a copy of this CD and see for yourself that this is not just a leftover school-girl crush review!

I've been radio quite a while now and I've met or interviewed a ton of artists from 80's artists to American Idols.  I can tell you that there are some celebs that I was not impressed with musically, but liked their personality.  Likewise, I've met some that I love their music but they were ....less than what I'd hoped in the personality dept.  I enjoy all kinds of music and have been in bands for decades myself.  Hopefully that will show you that I know at least a little bit about music, and not just doing this review as a fan.  Mix 107.7 Program Director/Morning Show host Jeff Stevens has his own perspective on why Rick Springfield fans keep coming back for more than 3 decades and there is an interview with Jeff in my video re-cap of the fourth & final Rick Springfield Cruise, left side of this page.

There are four versions of "Songs For The End Of The World" with different bonus content (again, GENIUS!) and I am certain that Rick Springfield's true fans will want to collect all four.  One of them is available only from Best Buy.  On their website is where I did my review and this is how it reads:

"Songs for the end of the world" is a fantastic new collection of material from Rick Springfield. Energetic, original and catchy tunes that grab your attention and make you realize he is much more than an 80's heart throb. (Although have you seen the dude? He's 63 and STILL eye-candy)! From "Wide Awake" to "One Way Street" the CD had my attention and reminded me once again why I love this artist. CLEVER is Mr. Springfield for giving his FANS the opportunity to sing on "I Hate Myself"! As he sent out facebook requests, fans from all over the world sent in the requested video of themselves singing the chorus as instructed. ALL tracks sent in were used when recording the album :) My personal favorite on the album is "You and Me" which screams "hit" from beginning to end. An interactive artist like Rick keeps his fans coming back for more than 3 decades (as seen in the upcoming film "An Affair Of The Heart" --Goggle it)! Since his autobio "Late Late At Night", came out a few years ago, his songs reflect his personality even more to his fans who didn't know him as well before. His fans are always hungry for more and with songs like "Our Ships Sinking" and "Love Screws Me Up" he certainly delivers on this new CD. This one is a no-brainer, I ABSOLUTELY recommend this CD. A+

I meant what I wrote ;)  I've also let my close friends know that they should beware of driving too fast while listening to this CD!  Twice I've caught myself doing almost 80mph while listening to the faster tunes! If I get a ticket, I wonder if I can bill Rick? ;)~  The good news is, you will clean your house faster! :0)
