An 8-year-old girl is about to suffer a moment of extreme embarrassment that's not of her creation. A woman in the crowd cackles at this moment; not laughs, cackles. You then hear someone "shoosh" those like her during the brief silence. You then hear the crowd pick up the tune in unison.
From Kim P., an Admirals season-ticket holder who sent over the clip:
The little girl did not lose composure at all and after a second the crowd took cue and started singing. But even the players were singing and did a stick tap at the end.
According to Elizabeth's mother Dorothy Shiloff Hughes (on YouTube), she was invited to sing at another Norfolk home game this season. Hopefully without incident; but if there is one, at least she knows hockey fans have her back.
Click the link below to see Dave Alexander's outstanding performance of Mother Ginger in the Nutcracker. This could be the most anticipated video since the release of Avatar on BluRay, or maybe not. Either way, it's pretty funny.
Unless you've been, say, in intensive care, you have already seen and been touched by the story of Ted Williams, the down-on-his-luck ex-radio personality with the perfect pipes who had been living on the streets of Columbus, OH. Williams' story continues to explode both online and in traditional media, culminating with his "coming-out party" yesterday morning on WNCI/Columbus, OH. During his appearance with Dave & Jimmy , media types from everywhere jammed the studio as the humble (and newly coiffed) Williams shared his inspirational story and was inundated with amazingly lucrative job offers from smitten potential employers, including a full-time position with the Cleveland Cavaliers (who also offered to pay his mortgage on a house), a voiceover position with Fox Television and ESPN and thousands of dollars in assorted voice work. After his radio stint, which has been posted online, Williams seamlessly switched to TV, doing several satellite interview segments from the studios of WNCI(nice plug, guys!) on CBS-TV's Early Show, TheCBS Evening News with Katie Couric and Inside Edition. Williams was scheduled to fly to New York, courtesy of NBC, where he will hang this morning with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira on the Today show. Williams also hopes to get home to Brooklyn to be reunited with his 92-year-old mother, who he hasn't seen in years.
